With great reward comes great risk

Things are looking bad for private investigator Kathy Rain at the start of this story. She is completely broke in 1998; the fridge is almost empty, the Katmobile is running on fumes, and she faces imminent eviction. But when a sizable monetary reward is offered for cracking the "Soothsayer" case - a series of serial killings that have a death hold on the metropolis of Kassidy - opportunity presents itself.
